Growing up in the Midwest as part of a very creative family we celebrated art, dance, travel and gardening. After attending Michigan State studying Education I settled in the southeastern part of Virginia.
I dabble in art, working with drawing my fantasy characters. I also enjoy dancing, photography and traveling but my one true love is gardening. All my life I have had an interest in plants and designing or improving landscapes. In the late 1990s I obtained my Maters degree in Horticulture through Virginia Tech.
My job of almost 28 years, working for a municipal cemetery serves a grieving public but also it maintains 350 acres of green space in a large urban community. Developing an urban forestry program keeps the cemetery green and shady, while landscape plantings add color and diversity.
Hybridizing day lilies is one of my favorite hobbies, creating a new flower by cross-pollinating two different flowers. I hope to start showing my creations in local flower competitions and possibly start selling them as part of a retirement business. Here are some pics from my gardens!
