This piece is inspired by the "rock art" site at Roche-A-Cri State Park in central Wisconsin. We are most fortunate, as this site has both petroglyphs (carving on rock) and pictographs (painting on rock). Although this site was vandalized in May 2004, its story remains. The vandalism is another chapter. Fortunately, due to park personnel and a community that cared, the site has been cleaned up with the help of an expert.
